More About Me

I love photography, and my dreams are to travel the world, taking photos and sharing them with the world. How I'm going to reach that goal is unknown, but I know God will provide for me. Whether I get a job with a travel magazine or through missions, I want to capture the beauty of creation and culture. I currently work at local, family owned pizza place serving good pizza to crazy people, going on four years now. Though it is physically and mentally exhausting and frustrating, I love it and couldn't have asked for a better job to get me through college and I am thankful for that.
On a different note... I want to share some random facts about myself:
  • I am a Christian and not afraid to say so. Though my walk with God has been lacking lately, unfortunately, that is in the process of changing. It goes hand in hand with my journey to finding joy and positivity, and I know it wont take me long to get there with God's comfort and provision.
  • I love being outdoors, especially in the fall, and doing anything outdoorsy. It's just so beautiful and refreshing to step away from our hectic, technology filled lives and go play. And even though we see clouds every day, I am still mesmerized by them.
  • I absolutely love old music. From Oldies to Eighties. Especially Classic Rock. Give me Journey, Foreigner, Chicago, Billy Joel, REO Speedwagon, and the Stones over Justin Bieber and Lady Gaga any day. <-- Gross.
  • My favorite movie is Forrest Gump. I love the history and the humor. And Tom Hanks is brilliant, as always. I can quote the movie nearly beginning to end. And truly, Life IS like a box of chocolates.
  • I used to love running, and still do... but I have lacked in that area for the past four years. But that's about to change. Running gives you endorphins, endorphins make you happy!
  • I love anything old, vintage, or antique. From furniture to clothes. Yes, please call me old fashioned. I'm dying for an historic, old bungalow style home with a big front porch, hardwood floors, and a dog.
  • Back to my love for fall... I love fall/winter fashion. So much better than Spring/Summer. Jeans, boots, scarves, sweaters, jackets. So many options for layering and colors. Not to mention the coolness in the air and the crisp, fresh feeling. You've got hot chocolate, campfires, smores, pumpkin patches, apple cider, crunchy leaves... I love it.
  • I don't drink. I have never even had a sip of alcohol. Could care less. I have no desire, no want, definitely no need.
  • Random things: I have a strange love for pancakes and scalding hot showers. I absolutely love Chipotle, best burritos ever. I can't sleep without a fan or if my legs are hairy. I own 8 cameras and look to buy/collect many more. I could eat cereal and a turkey sandwich every day without tiring of it. I love my 18 month old nephew, Benjamin, more than you can imagine, just can't get enough of the most adorable little boy. And I am a firm believer in the Toy Story mentality(I made up this terminology). I love my stuffed animals and feel bad when I put them in a box. I currently sleep with Lumpy, my heffalump from Winnie the Pooh. I promise I'm not crazy.
  • And finally, I'm always game for an adventure. Please get me out of the apartment!
So I know that was a lot to take in, but I hope you enjoyed getting to know me a little more!

Union Island

Mission Trip to Union Island last summer. Spent one amazing month on Union Island serving the Lord and sharing his love with His people. Union Island is the southernmost of the Grenadine Islands located in the South Caribbean. Truly paradise. It would take a whole other blog to tell you about that adventure. So here's a glimpse into that unforgettable trip. June 28 - July 25, 2009

Union Island.

Me when I arrived.

Me when I left.

Still in awe of the vastness.

Positively Blue

about the name:
The color blue is usually associated with sadness. But to me, blue is beautiful, calming, and serene. It is my favorite color and the color of some of my favorite things: the endless skies and vast seas, mine and my dad's eyes, my fluffy down comforter that I couldn't live without, my favorite tshirt, and many more.So blue to me is happiness. With that said, I wanted to give new meaning to the phrase "feeling blue." As I near graduation, there are a lot of decisions to make, and a lot of changes already underway in my life. Not all of which are so great. I find myself fighting back tears, and frequently longing for something that is unknown to me. I've come to realize that the longing in my heart is for joy. Being surrounded by a lot of negativity recently, I thought it was time for some positivity in my life. I decided to create this blog as a way to express myself through my photography and thoughts, in hopes to bring a little joy and happiness to myself as well as others. So on my journey to finding joy I want to be sure to stay Positively Blue :)
